Receives $656.53 Grant from

Lakeview, OR – November 24th 2009 –Lake County dogs who find themselves homeless, abandoned or misplaced had better be ready for their close-up. Thanks to a grant from The Pedigree Foundation, they will soon find themselves onscreen in businesses throughout Lake, Deschutes and Klamath Counties.

Limited exposure is the number one difficulty faced by OOHS animals searching for their forever homes. “Unlike organizations in larger areas that have shelters open 6 – 7 days a week to showcase their wonderful pets, OOHS  animals get only a few chances each month meet their perfect match,” said Martina Keil, Oregon Outback Humane Society Adoption Coordinator. “If the right person does not show up at that adoption event, the animals go back to their foster homes where they have to wait up to a month for another opportunity to mingle with potential adoptive families.”

Thanks to the grant just received from The Pedigree Foundation, OOHS adoptable dogs will be available for viewing up to 7 days a week. “OOHS will use this grant money to purchase video cameras and digital photo frames. Potential adoptive families will have their chance to see videos and pictures of OOHS adoptable animals at businesses throughout the region, think of it as our virtual shelter, “added Keil. OOHS will also be able to advertise all of their programs and events as well. The first opportunity to see this program in action here in Lake County will be at US Bank in Lakeview during the holiday season. “This grant from The Pedigree Foundation is allowing us to more forward with a project we have been thinking about for a long time but just did not have the budget to implement. We will also buy some Adopt Me vests for the dogs to wear at adoption events or wherever their foster families might take them giving them even more exposure to potential adopters. Everyone at OOHS is very excited.” Any business interested in hosting the virtual shelter for a month can contact OOHS at 877-947-5009 or by visiting the website at www.OregonOutbackHumane.org and emailing info@oregonoutbackhumane.org.

About The Pedigree Foundation

Through no fault of their own, more than four million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations every year, and nearly half of them never find a place to call home. Our mission is to help those dogs by providing grants to 501(c)(3) shelters and rescue groups—and by encouraging dog adoption.
