Pete is a year old Border Collie mix surrendered to OOHS  by his previous owner. He is a very intelligent boy who learns fast and, as with many herding breeds, aims to please.  He sits and is learning other commands as his foster parents have time to teach them to him. Pete gets along great with other dogs and basically ignores and respects the cats. The yard where he spends time is next to horses and he has noticed them but does not get worked up about them or chase them along the fence line. He is good in his crate, spending the days there until his foster parents get home. So far no accidents. He hangs in the house with his foster parents and other dogs, settling nicely and enjoying being part of a family.  Pete has adjusted so well that he has been given the OK to sleep on his own dog bed with the other dogs through the night. He will need a very active home, as his good behavior is no doubt due to the daily hikes he gets. Even after an hour morning hike in the woods he is still ready to go.  He does well off leash in an appropriate area (away from traffic) and comes when called. He has stayed in the yard, only wiggling under an interior fence gate once. He was simply looking for his foster mom. Pete will make a great addition to an active family.
